Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG) or Brain Map?

QEEG

A qEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram) or Brain Map is an assessment tool to objectively measure and evaluate a person’s electrical brain activity or brain waves. We use these maps and measurements to guide our neurofeedback protocols and assess progress throughout neurofeedback training.

The assessment provides a detailed clinical report or “brain map” to look at the brain’s electrical functionality and explain clients’ concerns and symptoms.

What does a qEEG measure and how does it help?

The qEEG can show if an individual has too much too little brain activity and also how the different areas of the brain are communicating appropriately compared to an age matched reference.

Where the brain is over or under active can frequently be attributed to certain disorders and symptoms such as ADHDAnxietyPTSD, mood disorders and more.

Brain maps are important aids in our patient evaluation and treatment planning process.

Our clinical director has 17 years experience reading qEEG brain maps and understands what cognitive or emotional functions each area of the brain performs and how they interact to create symptoms for the client. With expertise, experience as certified professionals, and the brain map as a guide, we develop a treatment treatment plan including recommendations, protocols, and an estimated number of sessions for neurofeedback.

What is the process of a qEEG?

The qEEG process is painless. It involves wearing a head cap with electrodes attached to it.

These electrodes detect electrical impulses from your brain and send the signals to a computer for analysis.

The cap simply reads brain activity and gel is used to enhance electrode performance.

To establish a baseline, you will be asked to sit still for about 10 minutes with your eyes closed and then repeat the process with your eyes open
